About the Book
Andy McBeagle yearns to leave Cathkenney Farm and explore the world. He wants to make new friends and see new things—maybe even a palace, and a queen! But everyone keeps telling him his legs are too short for such adventures. Andy knows that he is capable, brave, and kind, and he refuses to be discouraged. So he sets off to chase his dreams.
On his journey, Andy finds forests, towns, noisy and quiet places, friendly and less-than-friendly faces. He is told over and over that his legs are too short, that he is odd, that he doesn’t belong. But Andy McBeagle just continues on his merry way. As the seasons change, Andy experiences cold, hunger, and sadness alongside love, care, and happiness beyond his wildest imagining. But what about this palace he so longs to see? Where is it? And will he ever get to meet a queen?
Andy McBeagle will capture the hearts of young readers as he models kindness and demonstrates how perseverance and strength of character always triumph in the end.

B Taylor is a first-time author and lifelong storyteller. She finds inspiration everywhere, in people, nature, and experiences, but for this story in particular, she was inspired by the real-life Andy McBeagle, a loyal and loving short-legged dog who was a part of her family for fifteen years. When she’s not writing, B enjoys travelling, cooking, and being involved with her church.
She lives in St. Thomas, Ontario with her husband.
